6-Day Mount Kilimanjaro Climb – Marangu Route Itinerary
Kilimanjaro Climbing
The 6-day Mount Kilimanjaro climb via the Marangu Route is one of the most popular itineraries for reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” Marangu is the only Kilimanjaro route offering hut accommodation, making it a comfortable alternative to camping while still providing a rewarding high-altitude trekking experience.
This 6-day Marangu Route itinerary is designed to balance steady ascent with improved acclimatization, increasing summit success while allowing climbers to experience Kilimanjaro’s diverse landscapes—from rainforest to alpine desert and glacier summit. Ideal for first-time trekkers and those seeking hut comfort, this route combines accessibility, scenic beauty, and expert-guided support.
The Marangu Route is the only Kilimanjaro trail that provides permanent mountain huts at Mandara, Horombo, and Kibo camps. These dormitory-style huts offer bunk beds and shared dining areas, providing shelter from rain and cold weather. The route follows the same path for ascent and descent, creating a well-established and social trekking environment. For climbers seeking hut accommodation and a structured path to the summit, the 6-day Marangu Route remains a practical and accessible option.
Although the Marangu Route has a relatively direct ascent, this 6-day itinerary includes a dedicated acclimatization day at Horombo Hut to support gradual altitude adjustment. Our experienced guides monitor climbers daily using health checks and altitude assessments to ensure safety throughout the trek. Proper pacing, hydration, and professional support significantly improve summit success while maintaining climber well-being.
